Your house is mid-century. In my area (and based on the style of house and the vegetation, we may very well be in the same area), one can see many such houses with Victorian- and Arts and Crafts-style doors, and it. Drives. Me. Crazy. I know that many people decide they need a new door, go down to the local Lowe's or Home Depot, and pick something out from whatever's in stock, but it looks awful.

That said, mid-century style doors are harder to find. Crestview Doors look great, but are expensive. Your more economical option may be something from the Therma-Tru Pulse series. You can probably get one through a big-box store, but I think they need to be special-ordered.

As for your other questions:

1. Go for a fun, contrasting color! Your house is very muted; try something bright and cheery.

2. Lose the shutters.

3. If you look at the Therma-Tru doors, you will see that they have some unique window configurations. I like the one with the five small windows down the middle for your house, but they all look interesting.

4. Landscaping would be the other avenue through which to punch up your curb appeal. You can take out part of your lawn and replace it with some interesting grasses and perennials.

5. If you get a new door, you may want to get a stylistically similar light fixture.

6. I don't see any numbers on the house. Some numbers in a nice sans-serif font will look fabulous with your new door!

I agree a MCM door in a great color maybe turquoise or a great orange.

Great feedback! We've already started looking into the therma tru doors, they are great looking doors!! While it's a little daunting, we are considering an orangey/red tone with white trim to match the windows, but still open to see what other colours may work.
FYI I've since started noticing all the mismatched doors and houses in the neighbourhood. How annoying!!! lol
