Someone say plates? Yes..I love to cook and entertain..and this house is a monstrosity, old and limping but happily doing so. Door is always open....but I take that back..Winnipeg, Canada sometimes you can't open the door because of the snow. I'd rather go to NJ where they have real pizza and Philly Steak samiliches.

As far as buying that piece - it started out like this:

1. We got a larger TV. The original cabinet no longer worked.
2. We moved my antique sideboard to hold the TV.
3. I wanted to find another sideboard as a project for the TV and put my antique back in the dining room.
4. I saw the dishes. They didn't want to stay in the store.
5. I bought the beast breakfront and now get to add it to my project list.

How much do houses run $$$$ by you? Not huge. I like average size, I'm not cleaning huge. Maybe 3 bedrooms? We talked about moving to Canada before. Well talked about lots of places. LOL :) I love how you said the dishes didn't want to stay in the store. I'm stealing that line next time. :) LOL Want me to send Ya some jersey food? ;)

Hmm....I've always loved Canada...and I have also thought about moving there! It's nothing like Las Vegas at all. That sideboard is stunning and I can see why the dishes wanted to go home with you. I was just in Sault Ste Marie, ON, not really that close to Winnipeg, but closer than Las Vegas. But I would actually have to buy winter clothes if I moved away from here!!

I was in Jersey a month this past summer. I gorged on Entemans, Wawa coffee, Jersey Mikes, Sausage sandwiches at the board walk... and pizza. Gained 5 lbs...omg. Sure send it!!

Houses here like anywhere depends on the neighborhood. Just like houses in Ridgewood and Waretown same house $ 400,000.00 difference.

Coastal Canada is lovely. Winnipeg, Saskatchewan or Niagara Falls not so much lovely :)

Winter here in Winterpeg last year we didn't see + numbers for over 4 months. The snow that fell in October was on the ground in filthy huge mounds still in the beginning of May. It was colder then Mars here for over 7 weeks (-40c = -40f).

In Canada we find interesting ways to amuse ourselves with the weather such as blowing soap bubbles and having watergun fights @ -40 (c or f it's all the same when it's that cold).

@lucidos, I don't know a lot of Italian. My great grandparents came over from Italy, my great grandfather was grateful to be here and tried his best to speak English. It was his way of showing respect. So, after they passed away my family stopped speaking it fluently. Got plenty of bad words for you though. LOL :)

I am out of town until Monday but I have removed the ugly fringe which I found out was HOT GLUED on!!! Who would do that??? LOL! Now I have to put something there to cover the mark. :( I am closer to finishing this room project though! My neighbor says my drapes have been delivered so I will have lots to do when I get back there. It's all very exciting!

I would keep it. It is a rare piece. Have it reupholstered with a modern fabric. I would put it in my walk-in closet.

My goodness I've been trying to get this room finished and I am so very close! I've had some challenges along the way and got a little side tracked with "things" but I get back home tomorrow. And as soon as I can get someone to hang the drapes and the prints...lol I am thinking of ATTEMPTING to recover the settee myself with a pretty blue fabric, very similar to the color in these prints. I think it will be a great color to lead into the orange den and it also will pick up the blue from the really colorful rug in the dining area. So close! Thanks for hanging in there...you have been SOOOOO helpful! XOXO

Sounds like a lot of work if you are doing this yourself. ... but thought I would give my 2 cents.

I can picture this in a large romantic bedroom, reupholsted in a leopard print, lol! If not that, I would go with leather and make it modern putting it in a family room. It would be a great entertainment and talking piece.

Keep us informed. It takes time and thought to complete something.

I like your painting but I will add a few others. Also, I can picture black & white photos of nature, the moon, Paris, even celebrities. Hang several of them in a cluster and with that outstanding seat you cannot go wrong. :)

Wow Lynnie, you gave me some great ideas to think about. I hadn't thought of covering it in leather, but certainly that will be an option now. Do you think it will be easier to cover in leather? And I like the idea of black and white photos, thats good. I'm getting excited again! zazfuzzroc keeps me moving forward and I appreciate it very much!

Not sure how easy it would be but I'm sure there is a soft leather that you can work with well. Good to see that we are on the same page in our vision, so be sure and keep us all posted. Sounds like a wonderful project.

I hope you didn't get rid of this piece! Did you? You can easily get rid of the fringe if you don't like it. The piece is extremely unique, and any designer who tells you to sell it at a yard sale is hoping to be waiting at the curb for you to do it!

I'm agog to see what you've done with the turban/fez thing - it's such an ungainly big beast, and yet so inspiring!

Leather is VERY hard to work with, and I wouldn't recommend it as your first reupholstery project. Good quality leather is expensive, and you'd need substantial and MATCHED yardage to cover that thing.

I was thinking a rich blue, too. Ikea has very rich blue velvet curtains which are cheaper than good velvet by the yard...

The Ikea velvet curtains are called Sanela. I've got them in the lighter blue, and the darker blue - the dark is heavenly - really rich. They're the longer ones, and $89 in Canada - here are the lighter ones (Houzz photo, not mine!):

Yes!! The new cover is incredible though it took over 5 months to do! A friend was doing a favor so I was very patient about waiting for the re/cover. I will look for photos and post soon. I have also moved so I will post photos of Roundy in the new place as well. Happy New Year!!!!
