Hi,
We are designing a kitchen taht is galley along one wall, and an island. The cabinets on the wall go to the top to mazimize storage (we have a small urban townhouse) and their is a header over the island, where a wall was knocked out, that will have 3 pendant lights.
I'm interested in strategies for lighting the main area, between the island and wall of cabinets, in ways that will minimize our own shadows as we work ni the kitchen.

We will have under cabinet lighting, but can't put lights above the cabinets, pointed at the ceiling, as I've seen suggested to create a soft-box sort of effect. Might we aim lights from the header at the ceiling to do the same? Any other ideas?

Many thanks. The cabinets will be while, and there will be three north facing in the area, so there will be some natural light, but I'm usually in the kitchen after dark. Cursing my shadow . . .
