No hood over stove leaves view unobstructed, but... any concerns about no venting?

Thanks

Hi Stephenk21, there is an industrial strength vented hood that pops up in front of the stove when needed and evacuates through a duct in the floor to the exterior.

    Brilliant! Thanks

I have read that this type of venting (pop up) is not really very efficient. Is it worth the cost or can I just go without venting?

Some models do work better than others, but generally a downdraft will be less efficient than an overhead hood.

One of our customers has a downdraft installed behind their range, both in Germany and here in Canada, and are very happy so far. The unit however does rise about 20" above the cooktop, which is significantly more than most.

The website is in German, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like!
