The house is very nice and the lines and massing are simple and elegant.

To update the house, I would start by replacing the windows with longer new windows that come down closer to the floor. The new windows should be narrow and tall. I suggest casement style windows. White is a good color with the brick. Structurally you do not need to change anything as long as your are making the window longer, but not wider.

Look at Milgard Windows. They are affordable and they have a good product.

Remove the shutters.

Update your landscape by replacing the sidewalk with a new wider sidewalk using pavers or stones. A low stone wall along the driveway would update the look.....

Remove the bushes in front of the house and replace with a uniform planting material like lavender or daisies........or whatever works with your climate.
