Paint the table black.

@ groveraxle, can you resubmit an image with the table in a sleek shiny grey color? (but not very dark). I would love to see a grey table, with these pretty white chairs and art work with soft pastel colors. Love the chandelier/pendant lights by the way!

i think the nature wood color is good. and i would like to recommend you some wood pendant.

I got so involved with everything else I forgot to include the lighting. Groveraxel's pendant above the dark table is perfect.

I would put a navy satin tablecloth on the table with a white table centerpiece with gold or silver accessories or a low vase of really brilliant coloured flowers. . Chair pads could be white background with large blue and navy flowers with a touch of pink or red. The window covering should go across both windows at the top and could be either solid navy or navy and white or even flowered to pick up the colours in the chair pads. Or if you like the look of the blinds you could put a patterned blind like they have on Amazon.com in navy or the matching colours but I like the idea of the window having a track across both and not split the windows. The bottom of the chair rail should be white or with a wainscoting detail in white. The top half could be a deep navy or the same white as the bottom. Large white matted pictures on the wall, or posters with navy blue white and a splash of your favorite colour would be good. Make sure that people can't brush against them as they move in and out of the space. Think jewel tones as this is a breakfast nook but could be used for other meals instead of the formal dining room which would be more sedate.

I love groveraxle's photoshopping abilities, but I'm not digging the black or grey table with the colour of the floors? I think the table & chairs should stay the colour that they are now. Yes, paint the room white / off-white by all means, and accessorize with art, etc. I like groveraxle's suggestion of the roman shades over the blinds and the hanging 3-light pendant...not so fond of the artwork.

litehearted, not at all! i'm actually getting a chair reupholstered in that print :) just like everdebz, i think you're spot on with my vision! if the table and chairs stayed the same this kind of rug would be fabulous to tie it in with the rest of the navy/blue going on in the house.

I like groveraxel's idea of painting it black. I love the table and the chairs, even in their current color scheme. I think some texture on the window will go along way to warm up the space. I like the idea of yellow walls in the nook.

Maybe a blueish gray for the bottom and a white that matches the chair for the top or visa versa. Annie Sloan has their black color that goes on with a blueish tint. You could also build a new top to go over the top of this one if you want a farmhouse type top. Check out Anne White's site as she has all sorts of building plans. Good luck

I like the trellis rug, but wish it could cover all nook [square?] -maybe I'm fussy but the brown and blue and also wall color is a bit mixed.... could you pick a more neutral rug and paint table blue, or what about the gingham tablecloth? Is that a Paris look, the café?
At times I delete old photos that are just to stimulate ideas, as I did with blue cabinets post. I wonder if that kind of informality would suit you-and the blue rug hello!? Yes butcher block would warm it up, but....and it wouldn't have to be this bright...

Hey everdebz. Yea I went to see the blur rug in person today and it will be too much going on with that floor. The walls I don't mind because they won't always be that yellow color. But the floors!!! Can't wait to re-do them. In the meantime, wow at those blue cabinets. True inspiration! The minimalist in me could never be so bold but I do love that kitchen.

I would paint table a teal or turquoise and replace light with something like the one attached.

Lol no no! Not redoing the floors right now. Later after we do some projects. The gingham is adorable but my fear is that it would make the space a little too country. Although, if I went the butcherblock route with the countertops that wouldn't be a bad thing. However it wouldn't vibe with the rest of the house. I'm going to save the gingham for my backyard renovation next year !

Just a thought. I can see french country. That would work equally as well with blues. Also thinking paint the table white and do a DiY mosaic on the table. Fun project to get the family involved with too.

Built in nooks are very nice but expensive . They need to be custom made and I am not sure if bellemanor was going to do that.

If it were mine I'd do a window seat bench with some added storage and use as many of the chairs as you can.... You could still keep the circle talbe. Add great fabric for a cushion, another for window treatments and maybe a couple throw pillows... and then pick a color from the fabric to paint above the rail.... I'm thinking a deep, bold color. You've got a great space.

Ok. For a FUN breakfast nook....Paint chairs different colors! ( yes you read that right) striped curtains with your colors from chairs. Table can be another color.

Looks like you have gotten lots of great advice for this sweet kitchen nook! Depending on the stylistic direction you decide, a braided rug may work in this space. All of our braided rugs are made in the USA and reversible for twice the wear.
