I do not like the valance and drapes. Have you thought about a fabric roman shade?

HI -- Yes you can paint the walls a color from the rug , like the blue /grey . The window treatments are not right . Get some venetian blinds in a warm white that fit the window alcoves . Then have drape side panels hung on the whole wall from ceiling to floor . No valances !! You will have to put the décor pieces on another wall or on each side of the picture over the sofa .Lower all the wall décor -- it's hung too high . The one over the sofa should hang about 4 to 6 inches above the sofa back to picture bottom. This should help. .

Your room is nice and everything matches, but just a tad too much. You could bring in another colour with an accent chair in the corner by the window where the cushions are not the floor. Angle it in towards sofas to soften the rooms angles. Here is one in red, but whatever colour you add to room, continue it around the room.


I agree with suggestions for curtains and lowering art, and you should also add lamps.
