Choosing laminate color

I'm redoing floors in entire house. Photos are of kitchen. The color I choose will carry on into the attached family/living room. Also doing entire top floor (2 bedrooms & landing) in same laminate.

House is small (living room about 200 sq ft). Please help me choose between these 2 colors. The light color I thought wit open up entire house and feel light and fresh and spacious. But not sure it goes in kitchen. The dark is textured which I don't like and the light is smooth with beveled edges.

Which one should I pick? Or something entirely different? I'm trying to achieve a modern contemporary look.....clean lines; no clutter (must work at this one!!)

Any advice is welcomed!! I've got to choose something fairly soon.

Thank you,
Linda

Definitely darker. Have you considered any others? Like attached...

I think the darker one works best. It works with the counter tops and brings out the white cabinets!!

I would go with this lighter tone, sticking to grays to compliment your cabinets and cleaner lines on the wood grain... http://www.mydfloor.net/Products/Crystal_Surface/

The dark one works well with your counters. And it adds a nice contrast with your cabinets. Good luck! :)

Dark because it looks better and won't show food or cooking spills as much. You'll be cleaning those light floors like it's your job.

Is it possible for you to post a full on picture of your counters? I seem to be the only one who can't tell what color(s) they are by looking at just the edge on my screen. My first thought is if you don't really like the textured dark flooring you shouldn't use it in your entire house.

Yes, sometimes a picture straight down showing the counters and the floor will help. If you don't like the darker floor, then don't use it. You will not be happy. Trust me. Find a light one that you like with your other colors. :) Again good luck! I bought dark laminate counters and I'm not using them because they made the whole room dark. So, make yourself happy! :)

Thank you everyone for your responses....very helpful. I think I was leaning towards the dark but I do like that grey one that one of you posted!

I've included a pic of the counter.

Hi---definitely the darker one---it goes great with the counter. The cabinets are another story, as the color has a green/ash undertone---in order to make it cohesive I suggest going Darker with the wall color. Check BM's La Paloma and River Reflections. Hope this is helpful. It's going to look gorgeous... Good Luck!

Thank you so much Natalie for the wall color advise. I am going to look in to these colors. Currently the cupboards are in BM stone hearth and walls are BM natural linen.

Natalie is great with color. :)

I think a grey beige I can see it in the cabinets and the countertop. It definitely the new color today.
I would definitely go with the brown with gray hues or the gray with brown hues.

You may also find it visually helpful to use wider boards, like 7" or 8" wide rather than narrow boards. The wider widths will create a much cleaner appearance with fewer "joints" or "seams" in the room. This will make a small space feel bigger (much less cluttered) and will create a contemporary feel as well. Same goes for the lengths of the boards.....get them as long as possible!

Do you have the naked and color names of these floor samples you attached?
    Darn autocorrect....that should say NAMES!
They are all colors from lowes with famous names like Armstrong and pergo.

I think the light is way too yellow And light. And I too like wider planks. I'm having a hard time with flooring for bedroom
