Tempered glass, painted on the back-side.

Have you had any problems with heat from the cooktop on the glass? We are planning a similar backsplash and glass folks have reservations. Did you have the glass made and you painted it?

No problems with heat. Used tempered glass behind cooktop only. Used un-tempered glass elsewhere. Glass was installed by same sub-contractors who installed bathroom mirrors: similar installation process.

Tempered glass is heat resistant. Use of tempered glass as backsplash behind cooktops is a fairly common practice. Every burner on that cooktop is 18,000 BTU.

General contractor painted the glass, glass sub-contractor installed it. Test several colors: paint a small patch on glass, let dry, test in place. The glass and light changed the apparent tone/tint/hue quite a bit. Took some experimenting to get the right hue.

Do you know what paint color you ended up using? It's hard to tell from the photo...is it a white? thanks!

Like your backsplash. Consider to get back painted glass backsplash too. May I know what you used for paint and how you painted on the back of the glass? Special primer and paint?? Thanks!!
