For others out there, remember that there should not be more than 1/8" between the glass and the finished surface in order to minimize spray (preferably 1/16") Do not accept larger gaps than that - it meant the installer either measured poorly or used a prefab panel instead of custom. And if silicone is required, it should look very neat indeed.

It definitely seems like frameless shower doors are the more popular option. Are they proven to have better resistance against the leaks and silicone you mentioned? I definitely agree that they look nice. My wife and I have been thinking about getting frameless doors for a while now. We're thinking that we'll actually get them installed this summer.
