the full kitchen picture helps a lot. I'd probably try to match one of the colors in the backsplash.... blue or green. I would definitely make the perimeter & island counters match.... that's me..

Blue pearl I think is the winner. the backsplash are is tucked away and will look great from the blue green dazzling to brighten it up. BTW I hope you are doing something for your floor tile as well.

Blue pearl, all of it. Black is too dark in this narrow kitchen, not to mention what it is going to do to your lighting levels, especially since you are used to a white top. Also, shiny black counters are like a mirror, and you will see EVERY speck of dust and water spots on them, so constantly using a microfiber cloth! Don't listen to all the scaredy cats thinking you have too much pattern! Your backsplash is happy and clean and bright, and since you obviously love blue it goes beautifully with it! I think the beige color of drum shades on the island light fixtures needs to change to white, they look dirty, like they came out of a smoker's house. Better yet, get rid of the drums and put some pretty blown glass fixtures that aren't so bulky looking, and a white glass will let out more light than those burlap shades do in the center of your room. Replace the floor with Mannington Adura Luxury vinyl distinctive planks, pattern "Sundance", color: smoke. It is a medium gray. Gray is the new neutral and will be pretty with your white kitchen. It will "ground" it. You will be amazed how realistic this new luxury vinyl looks, AND you never have to worry about water in a kitchen or entry floor ruining the finish, and VERY easy maintenance! They are individual boards, so you could have them installed in a herringbone pattern which would be beautiful, and take away from the long narrow space you have, and carry it into the entry foyer also. Paint the back side only of the front entry doors, and the island base only, in satin finish latex enamel Valspar #335B-6 "Forged Iron". Leave the trim around the doors white. When your appliances need to be replaced go with stainless steel finish or white again. Can't wait to see it!

Hi---nice kitchen, good for you for adding color. At first glance, your ceiling looked low and I was going to suggest painting it a pale blue teal, but then I saw the last pic with the dining table, walls, and valance and thought, nope, nevermind. :)
As for the counters, I'm in favor of the Blue Pearl on the island and the Marengo on the perimeter. I recommend switching out the pendant lights-should be white glass and round with the new design.

And out of left field comes the Canuck! How long do you plan on living in this home? 20 years or more? If not, please consider what a prospective buyer would consider a deal breaker. Paint and the amount of backsplash are relatively inexpensive to change. A quartz or stone countertop, not so much. Neutral is the way to go as even if you outgrow your "blue" phase, you will have many more options. I like your current color combination, so my advice would be to use a white quartz on the perimeter and blue pearl or black pearl on the island

Have you looked at costa esmerelda granite? We have it and it's stunning! It would coordinate well with your backsplash!

If you have to use that backsplash, and it hope you don't have to, I would go with a plain white countertop.

I used Blue Pearl in my kitchen, and now that the house is for sale, no one likes the granite. Just FYI. Blue, sadly, has a short style life. I think your white cabinets are plenty of white, and if you want a granite, I'd try the dark ones on either end. The second one looks like the builder's grade "cheap" granite you see at the box stores. I like the idea of covering your counters with lengths of fabric to see how the color affects the room; I never thought of that before!

And consider getting rid of the blue paint. too matchy matchy

What I think works in the kitchen with the white counter is the fact the the appliances are less obvious. That will drastically change with a dark counter.

Hi there- after reading comment about white appliances having such contrast with dark counters, I'll say that the lightest option is best........
OFF the subject, but here's nice blue and green

DITCH the granite!!!

The mottled pattern in the granite clashes & looks too busy with the Striped & multi colored back splash.

The Silestone Marengo looks the best.

Things look best in odd numbers/3's.

A white counter along perimeter & contrasting island with the gray Silestone Marengo.

***Also white perimeter & white island counter tops, but island cabinets painted a contrasting color. Then the tops all look "clean, fresh & fun." The painted island will ground the fun look of the back splash into the floor & pull it away from the walls & into the home. :)

The only thing I didn't like was the white fridge, too much white. A fridge in a baby blue color like the pony wall would compliment & push the fun happy look to the max.

What color are your cabinets and floor? We would definitely use Blak Pearl granite with this backsplash but if you don't have enough of daylight in your kitchen (and we hope you do), then pick the lighter option - Steel Gray.

White Quartz

I ended up going with Cambria Torquay Quartz, walnut floors, changed the wall color (Palladium blue), and changed the window treatments - I am very happy with it! Thanks to all of you for all the suggestions and help!

Thanks again for all the help! Here are some "After" pictures. We went with the Cambria Torquay Quartz countertops, walnut floors, and new paint, hardware, window treatments, trim, and accessories. We are installing a pretty chandelier over the table this week. I'm so happy with the transformation!!
