Am I on the right track??? Creamy white cabs, mex tile floor, millenium cream granite , greenish subway tile with a rustic glaze!?

    The backsplash seems more traditional.

Don't see where the mexican tile fits into this scheme at all.

There are some lovely kitchens on Houzz that combine white cabinetry with terra cotta tile floors. Most include some reference point to the floors in the design.

Love the terra-cotta floor tiles but make sure they are installed on the diagonal--a much classier look.

I think the floor tiles are already there. That photo is the existing home.

love love love the BS tile!

I am a huge fan of saltillo and mexican tiles. Your subway goes nicely with the granite (on my monitor), but the kitchen as you've described will clash with the floor.

I actually had to choose a different BS tile, the one I posted originally had a minimum order that was twice what I needed. So was so burned out with decisions, i quick picked a hand made grey beige tile and went with it. I think the over all kitchen is good looking but I now really think the Malibu tile risers are too busy. But trying to not think too much about it.....

Good for you for not obsessing...you kitchen looks very cozy and inviting..

The view of the stairs and the wall hanging and the dining table are all in sync...

Thank you! I actually may be obsessing over the tile risers! Lol! Thinking about painting with terracotta color tile paint ( if there is such a thing) two of the rows and leaving the two blue ones!

Don't know how you feel about area rugs but a coordinating rug under the dining room would solidify the separation of the diverse look on that side of the kitchen

The risers add a personality that goes with the table

    Yay!

Don't know how attached you are to the dining table and chairs finish...but painting it to match the cabinets may lend continuity and flow
  • 11 years ago
You could start with just the table..
Another little boost toward "flow" maybe a Spanish decor piece over the sink and an island centerpiece featuring a little basketry or terra cotta

Soo cool you said that! Just thinking to change 4 dinning chairs (consignment store find) and the bar stools ( old junk) so that all six chairs are samish design and cabinet beige color! I would keep table though it seems large for the room, Now, for new chair shopping!!!!

If you are considering bar chairs...things to consider...the correct height...light weight is easier to move around and swivel ..all really handy..and by the way I like the natural wood for contrast and to tie in with the Spanish elements...

    Happy shopping...

Your kitchen is really nice looking and it is all working together. It's a real home kitchen, one that evolved for its owner. Congratulations.

In case you look back at this older thread, wondering how you like your Millennium Cream granite?
