Love it all - question about the ceiling.

What kind of wood is on the ceilings, and how is it put up? What is the stain or finish? thank you so much!!

    I found out that this was done with primer covered in glaze or a water based stain. I'm replicating it now, with a twist, and found that I prefer a thick coat of waterbased white stain (General finishes) covered by one of their colored stains (I'm doing Antique Oak. Their walnut is very gray and their espresso is very red.) The white stain still lets the grain show without the color of the wood coming through. I needed this since I'm working with pine and wanted to take the yellow/orange tones out. Don't be tempted to try this with Minwax. Their waterbased stains aren't open long enough and you can't move them around before they dry.
