Help with Mantel display

Hi Everyone,

I have just returned from Paris where I carted back a lovely (I think anyway!) sculpture for my Mantel - the last piece of my room that isn't really finished. I was waiting to find the right things.

It is only a small London flat but I've taken a few pictures of the other parts of the room so everyone can get some sort of idea of the colour scheme and style. As you can see, there is a big mirror adjacent to the Fireplace wall and three Chanel prints opposite.

Can anyone help me finish off the display? Picture behind? Vases either side? I want to set off the sculpture but not detract from it.

Thanks!!!

    What a FABULOUS room.
Don't add a thing to the mantle.
Your choice of white sculpture for your black mantle is sublime.
    Perhaps some art above.
I am trying to upload some of our prints but having no luck.
Will try again later or you can go to our market place.
    Enjoy your wonderful space.
    Regards

Can't upload pics for you. Go to www.decorativephilosophy.com or HOUZZ marketplace for decorative philosophy to see some art.
Perhaps a high gloss white lacquered frame would complete the look adding a new reflective surface.
    OR a mirror.....
Cheers to you and your great taste and ability to pull a room together!

Thank you so much, that is very sweet. It just feels a little bare there at the moment. I will have a look at your prints.

I agree with Maureen. I would put up an art deco mirror;) Maybe you could use the other mirror elsewhere?

I don't suppose you'd like to paint the wall behind a little darker? Didn't think so.

A single, simple black and white print...very simple with small black frame and maybe white matting would look nice behind. Don't add any of the chanel prints as they would take away too much from the sculpture. Maybe a simple line drawing, or a mirror as others have suggested.

Not these exact, but simple like the examples.. maybe the most with a bit of color. Nothing overwhelming.

Hello Lauren. I am so impressed by the room and the choice of sculpture! The thing that I admire most in Paris is the lack of "designer-looking" interior design! If I were to give you any advice it would be not to do another thing at all. If you feel like something is lacking, it will find you!!

Have you tried it on the coffee table? Mirror over the mantel.

i say you darken the wall paper just a tad. so things can pop off it.

I feel like there needs to be a touch of red on the mantle with your fab piece.....bring in the red from the rug and the prints.

Yes, Abbyjean, that was my thought also. I don't know how to incorporate that without overwhelming the sculpture though. I did see it presented in Paris in front of a large black framed and blacked backed picture containing a red oriental fan (although it was all material not paper) and it looked wonderful. I couldn't cart the wall art back from Paris though and I suspected it would be too large for my mantel anyway.

Oh, that sounds perfect to really help show case this and tie the room together. Sounds like a DIY in your future! Then you can get it just the right size.

I cannot seem to find anything like it online though! Anyone stumbled across a chinese fan type thing which is completely made of the tassel material and not paper?

Hi all, in case you wanted to see the fan I was referring to, here is a picture of the sculpture in front of it. Anyone seen anything like this (framed or un framed?) or have any idea how I could craft it?
