I think a new backsplash and floor is needed to refresh. A reflective, light color, simple backsplash will transform the kitchen. The suggestion of new flooring would depend upon the type of flooring you have in nearby spaces.

I guess it depends on your taste and your budget, but I think I would just start with backsplash and flooring too. I'm personally not a huge fan of the countertop either, but it might look a lot better with a brighter more neutral backsplash!

I think that you should change the backsplash. How about a glass subway backsplash? Please take a closer picture of the granite (not sure what color it is). I would use taupe or gray glass. I think this will update your kitchen more. Maybe some modern floor runners too! Best of luck and please show us some pictures!!

I like your kitchen. The granite, floor and backslash all seem to coordinate. I like that since you have such dark cabinets that you went with those in a lighter contrasting color. But now that you have been living with it this long, I think you just want a change. Start with a cream colored subway tile either in the traditional brick pattern or maybe change it up with doing it in a tile over tile horizontal pattern or even in a herringbone pattern. See if that changes things up enough for you. If not, go with a white quartz counter and start on just the island 1st. If you like that and need to proceed, change out all counters to the white quartz. Do you have under counter LED lighting? I can't imagine that with the high quality of your kitchen that you would not. But add it if you don't have it. Another suggestion without a complete kitchen redo (which you absolutely do not need), is try changing your pendant lights and your barstools. Let us know what you come up with & post new photos if changed.

I would change the floor .. not sure what flooring is in the rest of your home, so I can't make a suggestion.

Me too, start with the backsplash. No need to get rid of the granite counters when the right backsplash could change the look. Floors would be next but even they might look better with the right backsplash.

This vento gray Moroccan tile would add a bit of shine on the bs area. Kitchen pic is with white tile but there wasn't a kitchen pic of the gray tile.

You have a beautiful kitchen! You may want to consider painting your island and putting a wood, maybe butcher block top on the island. If you could choose a color that would pull one of the colors out of the floor with a faux antique finish. changing the backsplash would make a big difference but is a messy undertaking. maybe a little more under cabinet lighting would do the trick. You may also want to consider a different window covering or paint it to match the island.

Try the rope lighting idea 1st. It's the easiest. Also add LED's under cabinets.

You have an amazing space. I have attached some photos of some ideas. Personally, I like light and dark contrasts. Since your cabinets are darker I suggest a light counter top. They make tile floors that look like hardwood, I think that would look nice in this space.

I would change the backsplash. I would pick up a lighter shade of the grayish/greenish color that you have in your coutertop and flooring in simple larger scale subway tiles.

Is mother of pearl ivory glass tile would be a good choice for my backsplash?

I think your kitchen is beautiful and if your flooring is slate tile, that is what I am thinking of putting into our kitchen! I would do the above cabinet lighting, under cabinet lighting, new lights over the island, new counter stools, then have professionals paint your cabinets a cream with a chocolate wash.

I'd change flooring first... Keep granite and change backslpash to a slightly more mordern type like cream colored subway tiles. I feel like the cut of the granite edges is what makes it look dated but you may be able to keep it with those other changes.

I agree with most, I think the floor and back splash could be changed, everything else is great, I also feel the lights (two pendants above island) are a little dark, maybe something bright like a cream colour or nickel finish.

No, your granite definitely does not look dated. Read what everyone has written--it's the backsplash. It's busy and dark.

Do the small stuff first. Add rope lighting and under cabinet lights. Replace the backsplash. Then take another look and post more pics (before & after) to see if anything else even need attention.

Your new backsplash should be a single light solid color. What do you think about either of these?

I like your pendants and stools. I think all you need to do is change up the backsplash. A light gray or creamy color reflective subway tile will freshen and brighten the kitchen. Just be sure the tile color complements the granite (which is very nice). If subway isn't your thing, a stainless steel backsplash? Samples of gray, creamy tile or stainless...

What if you just lightened the cabinets & changed the floor & light fixtures? It's really a beautiful space!

I think the backsplash will be the first to go. Maybe a creamy ivory color or taupe. I'd like a stone.

Your kitchen lacks light and contrast. Perhaps- paint over the base of the Island- a lighter colour- just to change it up a bit. Lighting is far too heavy- maybe stainless suspended track? Back splash a combo of the stainless- behind the stove and tile for the balance? Maybe imprinted stainless with a pattern could be interesting? Perhaps change the island counter top to coordinate with the rest- less is more.... make it it's own statement... Most of all...figure out what is bugging you the most- and listen to your thoughts...before anyone else.

I would change the backsplash, change the hardware, and refinish the cabinets in a lighter color. Oh, and change the floor too. I see lighter cabinets, a more modern hardware, and a more colorful backsplash. the floor would look better if it was not such a choppy pattern.

Like Designs by O'Brien says it lacks light. Add under and/or upper cabinet lightning and see if this changes your mind. A lighter colour for the ceiling? Upper cabinets lightning will reflect its brightness over the whole kitchen.
Perhaps you can replace your pendant lights by ss ones. Keep you barstools, they're great.
Everything coordinates so well in your kitchen. It's just all lovely and while I'm a fan of modern, I think this kitchen has class and style.

I would not change the ( slate? )floor. It matches the backsplash perfectly ( as far as I can see) and is a nice contrast with the dark cabinets. Changing it will also have a huge impact on your dining nook, will be a waste of time, money and efforts.
Neither would I change the backsplash, it goes very well with the cabinets and floor.
Maybe another colour for the window.

I kind a like my dark cabinet and don't really want to make them lighter I.ve changed them from cognac to dark chocolate 5 years ago but I know it looks dark. In the afternoon its not as dark because there s a lot of light and does'nt look that yellow I post a picture of my family room that next to it and a picture of my favorite kitchen and if you have inspiration tell me what you think also thank you all very much to give me your feedback I really appreciate it!!!!
