Love your house!!! I vote for red!

Thanks.. The shutter look black now but they are actually brown now. Any recommendations of a specific red or turquoise paint color would be great.

Great house love the curb appeal of it , drew me right in. Love that tree in bedding is it a Crepe Myrtle the shape is lovely with your house. I would leave the shutters as well , Not a big fan of red doors .Is the body of the house a creamy color? So many red doors out there . Since you live in the south I think a color in a cooler shade would be much nicer.

Congrats- my vote is to also stay in the cooler tones. I like Libby's idea of the BM historical colours. These shades would be in keeping with the character of your home. If you wanted to keep a darker shade on the shutters, I like BM's willow- brown/grey... it will work equally well with a teal or a red.

My vote is to plant red flowers instead of changing the door or shutters.

My front door is a beautiful shade of yellow, on the brighter side. In my opinion red is too basic and overused.

You do need flowers in bight colors though. Too much large shrubbery and too dark. It hides your beautiful porch. A porch should say come on over and sit and visit. Yours is hidden.

I agree with nancyferro, a beautiful shade of bright yellow-gold would be pretty on your door.

I think a shade of blue like BM Philipsburg would be lovely on your door! You could add more pop with landscaping. Right now the shrubs look quite heavy. Some lighter greenery and bright flowers would be very cheery.

I agree that red is overused for front doors and if the door gets a lot of sunlight, it will fad very quickly - it looks like your door would not get a lot of sunlight because of the overhang however. Green is a wonderful color for shutters and entry door. Adding some flowering shrubs and potted flowers near the front door would add some color and interest as someone mentioned.

Lovely home and landscape. I can't tell if house roof is black, shades of black and gray or a dark brown. I would like to see the shutters match the roof. You could TRY the door in a subtle shade of marigold. I'm have the same dilemma with my door on a cap cod. Try using the small samples of paint offered at he paint stores. Paint a very large piece of cardboard (box) and holding it against the door. Red is still an option if you like it and SO WHAT if others think it is over used. Looking at the photo and catching a glimpse of blue in the up center window, you might try a rich blue. What ever, the house is lovely.

Or, I've read that the door should be a reflection of what is inside the home. So you may want to take a color from your interior entryway and use that for your door.

Keep the landscaping. It will help cool the house and in SC it is necessary. Teal or Apple Green would be pretty on the door.

We recently painted our front door Sherwin Williams' Hazel SW6471 - it's a lighter blue/green teal from their Urdan Organic collection. Our house is cream with black shutters and roof. The color is unexpected and really pops. We looked at red, apple green and a lavender blue as well. Most paint brands have samples you can buy and try first. We painted poster boards of each color and taped them up - looked at them from the street before we decided. It was a big help. Also, we wanted the color we painted the door to look good in the inside of the house when we had the door open. It has made a big difference to our curb appeal. Good luck.

Since your shutters are brown and your siding is cream/beige, I vote for a rich Coral Red !

I'm also liking the apple green or the coral red. I think coral red flowers would be a nice addition to your landscape as well.

Try colonial green to pull out the beautiful greens in your yard. Add this color to your shutters and add house numbers in that color, also, to that tiny triangle over your front porch entry. Instant standout, believe me. Nature knows best.......

Red would look nice, but I agree it is overused. If it were me, I'd look at some kind of yellow or blue for the door. the shutters should be similar to the roof in color. House is great.

even seen a green door, not dark like emerald, but bright and bold with yellow in it. Loved it too. but I think perhaps the first two suggested.

Glitzy gold by sherwin williams was a color I saw on a door, it looked lovely. but of course must go with the color of the house. adding flowers in similar and complementary colors will also help the curb appeal and have it blend in.

I think the shutters look good. Why not just try painting the door only and then see what you think.red is getting overused now, I agree. There are some beautiful steely blues that might be nice . Add some planters in the same blue and fill them with blues and creamy white flowers and carry those flowers into the garden along the walkway.

i do think painting your door a color would be fun, and if you are up for it, i say go for it! (that being said, its ironic that i just decided to go back to traditional and painted our front door - we have a simlar style house - black!)
i would love to see your shutters painted black or a very very dark charcoal gray or the historic charleston color "charleston green" which appears black but is just a tad more subtle.
i am in a tradtional mood these days so my vote would be to paint your shutters and door all black or all charleston green. i would pull color in your landscaping and planters. perhaps some painted furniture in unexpected color - yellow, turquoise, lime green....even pink!
my second vote is shutters all the black or charleston green and the door something really unexpected (not red, which is expected.)

I vote red - deep red. We have one called "tomatillo' from Miller Paint. It's classic. And I would paint the shutters pure black. And then flowers. Lots of flowers in pots that match the shutters. I love the house. It's beautiful. I covet your porch. It's nice to have the plantings in front - makes it more private while you're sitting there sipping your wine.

As I mentioned before, I painted my door yellow. It's Valspar Caribbean Sunset SR613. It's beautiful! Bright enough but not too bright. My house is light gray with dark charcoal gray shutters. I love the pop of color!

I would look at a dark blue almost black color. Home Depot carries a Martha Stewart Living colosr called Pencil Lead and Wrought Iron.

Nancy, that sounds like a wonderful color combination, would love to see a picture of that. I love yellow with gray.

Greet house! Definetly a red door, then I plant red flowers along walkway

My house is the same color tones and I think I am going with Benjamin Moore HC-143 Wythe Blue. Also like the colors on both sides, HC-144 Palladian Blue, and HC-142 Stratton Blue. Nice and cool.

I didn't read all the comments but I would go Green with the door and the shutters.

Teal..and trim in same color..flowers in yellow, purple, red and white..house will be welcoming and different..leave shutters alone..

Here is my front porch with the yellow door. My house has gray siding and charcoal shutters.

I agree that although red is prime, it's overdone and with the tone of your house, you'd have to be very careful of what red you chose. I agree that a nice, warm teal or shade of green blue would be attractive. Your home is a lovely mix of a Colonial with Victorian charm. Red= Colonial, Teal= Victorian... chose as you wish.

You have such a timeless beauty there htroy. A house that no one ever gets tired of seeing. To me the yellow is to much pop . I personally loved it the way it was.. If it were me I would go more deep rich bluish grey , shutters as well. I guess I am more into simple but do love your house. Already had so much charm . The flowers planted would be my way of saying welcome.

You have so many shutters. Have you considered taking down the ones in the middle and treating it as one big window? Also, what color is the roof? Looks brown in the picture.

If you consider green, capture the color of green in the shrubs or tree near by. That way it will look like it belongs there and want stick out so much and still give you a custom look. Good luck.
