what kind of carpet is on the steps? Are the nail heads going directly into the carpet or is there a boarder?

Hello, Kgold5! Thank you very much for your question. This runner on the stairs is a custom piece that we had made by our vendor specifically to fit this space. These nail heads are not directly positioned on the carpet, there is a 3" cotton binding on all sides of the runner in the same color-way so as to blend nicely. Hope this helps! - KP
