I'm renovating my 1900 Victorian dining room right now, pulling out the plaster and lathe, old knob and tube wiring, to insulate the room. While I'm at it I'd like to add more light to the room. I was thinking about french doors, particularly sliding ones, as the room is small and it looks onto a small covered porch. However, if I do that, then the radiator below the window will have to be cut and moved over to flank the door on both sides. That's a lot more work. I also want to keep the integrity of the house intact. Would a larger window be the answer? Two of them?
