I need help with my kitchen!

Hello. I am a new homeowner and need help with ideas for my kitchen. I have forest green countertops with a light green backsplash and a beige tile floor. I am ok with the colors at this time, since it is not in my budget and I am uninterested in painting any of the counter, tile, or floor tile. (I know there are products out there but I have a horror story about painting tile). I have painted the soffit and ceiling white. It does not look as yucky as it does in the picture. Any wall paint ideas to tie in the green? also there are a few holes in the lime green tile. Can I buy decorative pieces of tile to glue over the holes and create somewhat of a design? I have never glued tile on tile before. I just wanted to cover the holes. Any advice is appreciated.

Once you fill the open shelves with dishes and such there will be more color and the kitchen will look better. You could hang a decorative tray over the stove to hide some of the green tile and add pattern. Maybe paper the back of the open cabinets. two examples:

Pink, just kidding, obviously previous owners had no decorating skills, perhaps a lighter shade of the tiles, blend better and not be so distracting, oh boy you wouldn't want to introduce another colour, good luck with this one

I would paint the remaining cabinets white. It will look a lot more fresh when that is done. And maybe pink wasn't too crazy of an idea, though I might look for a nice grey.

I definitely think painting the remaining cabinets white is the way to go. Also like the idea of introducing a nice gray for wall color. The idea of hanging a decorative tray over the range is brilliant. Perhaps a silver tray? I'd be afraid to introduce too many colors with those warring greens going on. Try sticking with whites first to see if it visually calms down the greens.

Thank you I also think hanging a decorative tray is a very smart idea. I will have to start looking! Ok I will consider painting the cabinets white

At least paint the uppers -- that white cabinet with wood-tone doors would keep me up nights! :) I like the green tile, though -- cheery. I think white paint is ok, or a cream (to tie in the tile a bit) or even a yellow would be sunny. A very pale shade of the tile green would also work, but might be the wrong direction to go...

I would get some white primer and white paint and do the rest of the cabinets and also maybe change to hardware on the cabinets to silver? My favorite primer is Stix by Benjamin Moore and their Advance line of paint for the cabinets. The Advance goes on sooo nice, and it smooths out any brush strokes so nicely. Use the Wooster Micro-Plush roller covers on the cabinets -- they will look professionally sprayed. Wonderful rollers!

Is this from the 40"s? Those cabinets are likely real wood. I would go in stages. I like the suggestion of starting with painting the cupboards and adding new door handles. Unless you like the tile, it wouldn't cost anything to remove them and paint the wall if you are handy. Then, as you are ready a new countertop and floor. Congrats on your new home!
