So we made an addition to our 1986 Adair home, adding square footage to our bedroom among other things. The "master bath" is not very master like, but we are looking to add a little square footage to the bathroom as well as turning the old bedroom area into a walk-in closet. We purposely moved the door into the bedroom from the hallway over to allow a bump out of the bathroom wall. My thoughts are to remove the in-swinging bathroom door, wall that in, and make the entrance to the bathroom through the walk-in. I think a pocket door between the closet and the bath would be best. I'm thinking a sliding barn style door into the closet. Then, if we leave it open, it still looks pretty.

Storage in the closet is a priority, as we currently are stealing space in our kids' closets. We could possibly steal the space of the hallway closet to make the shower bigger. Also thinking about moving the vanity in the bathroom. We only have one sink which is fine.

I would appreciate thoughts on:
Alternative footprint options for the bath with the door moved;
Thoughts on the space being conducive for a walk-in shower;
Must have conveniences for a walk-in such as sliding clothes valet, outlets, etc. I still plan on using dressers in the bedroom area, so the closet will be mostly hanging clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.

I've never had a walk-in before. My hubby works shift work, so the idea of the closet and bath being separated a little from the sleeping area is good.
