Chandelier not centered in window

I just bought a house that is new construction and the chandelier is centered to the room. This causes the lighting not to be centered to the window. I was thinking of putting a side table on the left wall and trying to use drapes to "trick" the eye and make the window look centered. What should I do about the chandelier? Help! Thank you!!!

the light is centered to the table, so its in the right spot, as you wouldn't center the table to the window it wouldn't fit. strange division wall, i would have left it open. and yes you can trick with the drapes, but i wouldn't worry too much. swag the curtain to the larger side and extend the rod a bit, hang some floating shelves, add a rug and some art on the walls, i wouldn't put a sideboard or any other furniture in this space, too small for clutter.

Or just take the chandelier down and use it to replace the one in the front hall.

ncohea85, you have not indicated the intended use of this room. Is it a dining room as seems to be the assumption on which some of these suggestions are based...?

if there was a couch there i would suggest the same thing. and the chandelier is too large for the entry area. but if you wanted my real opinion neither of them are fabulous. but they work!

I understand your frustration. Have similar issues with balance in my home. An electrician could probably move it for you.

why would you want the light of center to the room... it is what it is.....

Easy enough to swag chandelier to wherever you want it...but get furniture in first.

if you swag that fixture, it will be much too high, and you would need more chain and wire. sure you can swag it, if you have the right amount of "extra", otherwise its not that easy.

Are you planning to use a buffet/hutch? Wait until you get the furniture in and then see how it looks.

By all means, center with the window. Use a ceiling medallion. It allows you to reposition the fixture and covers the previous hole in the ceiling. Love the room!

Also, if you were to use a ceiling medallion and center the fixture with the window, your table would need to be centered with window as well, which would require short width to run with window wall.

If this is a dinning room, then leave the light for now. Once you get the table in, you'll see if you need to reposition it. I am saying this from experience. In my breakfast area, the builder centered the lights with the door to the patio. The table cannot be centered with the lights because that would block the walking path. So wait and see what furniture goes in first

Either leave it as is or take it down as it is in the right spot.

again swagging it is not really an option here, it would become even shorter than it is now, and if you wanted to lengthen it you would need to have additional wire and chain, and which point you might as well move the whole and re hang it after the trouble.

Hi---a wall of draperies with a fabric shade underneath will camouflage the odd placed window. Pics for inspiration. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

See ideas below for a corner piece to help offset the focus on the window's location. Weight added to the left will create balance on that wall, and I don't see a problem with the location of the fixture.[houzz=

i know this is new construction, but it seems like you tried to have old world charm. and in that case, nothing was perfect about placement of light fixtures to window ratio. i say just get the table in.

I think your space is charming - and it doesn't bother me that the chandler isn't centered on the window. Just center your table under the chandelier and finish the articulation of the space - it's a pleasing imperfection :)
