I couldn't agree more. We would like to use 12 x 24 tiles. The saws we have looked at cost about 900.00 which is more than we want to spend. We are thinking at least a 12" travel.

My tile saw cost about that and has been performing lots of hard work very well. I do believe that with tools that are going to be used with any regularity, one should try not to be penny-wise and pound foolish, even though the up-front cost may be more than ideal. My crystal ball tells me that ambitious DIYers with a handy husband may have more tiling projects!

On major tool purchase of this type, I find a local repair shop that can get rebuilt or re-manufactured tools. I have saved over 30% even shopping around on line for best price new.
Yes, larger wet saws with double rail are the best if your getting into the large tile as they offer max flexibility particularly on 45 degree cuts.
