Hi! What is the style you are going for? Do you have inspiration pictures of some sort? I moved into our new home a month ago and walls were so bare and a lot of echoing. Came from a townhouse to a big house, basically none of what I have works because they look tiny with my high ceilings etc. I find that Pinterest and Houzz has helped me a lot plus frequenting furniture stores (not necessarily to buy) helped me narrow down my design style and was a very good learning experience.

Yes a big tall 4ft picture in very bold contemporary look. Get panels for windows end. Go a print like chevron in blac and white. All your furn is in one area. Push back,into room. Use your room. Sofa not angled but looking at TV. Chair slight angle towards TV. Buy two armless chairs to place by wi does. Side by side. Add a big 8x10 area rug float in front of sofa. Go a contemporary design lots of color but also gray. A big 36" round coffee table glass and metal. Ck Z Galleries for furn, art and furn. West Elm is good. Add items to top of chest not too high. Like big candles, unique boxes. Vases in a accent color. Add pillows to sofa. TJMax a good pl to look also.

Get chairs in a bold color like yellow, teal, coral. Or black for a dramatic look. Place a small pillow on back in a bold color.

Can you show pictures of the other walls/sides of the room, please? It looks like everything is crowded into one corner. Maybe there's a better way to arrange furniture.

Here are 3 different angles of the living room. I have some Christmas stuff up right now so just ignore that!

The sofa and chair appear too big for the space their are occupying. If you can back up the sofa by a foot or two and then square up the arm chair a bit more towards the fireplace (don't worry about angle to TV...it will probably never be a viewing spot because of the size of your space. You can add an area rug and ottoman/coffee table but your space is getting very, very tight.

This particular set up (room dimensions) together with size of furniture would have done much better with TV over mantle....but the mantle may be a bit tall for this options. People's necks will be strained over the current mantle.

How about using tall space for art above mantel?
Have you thought about a slightly bigger chandelier? anyone think it's small? Here's stacked marble..

I thought of doing a big mirror above fireplace what do y'all think?
Or would art look better?

What about the walls above and beside TV?

Also should I do one long curtain rod above the windows with one panel on each side?

I wish you had written before mounting the TV. I'd say it needs to be lowered. That would make the console and TV more like one object rather than two disconnected pieces.

I agree with Cancork Floor that the furniture is too wide for the room. Can you move the big chair to another room? Then replace it with two smaller chairs and reposition the sofa.

This whole space is brown and vanilla. Live in color;)

We are actually looking for another console that's a little longer and taller for under the TV. Yes, the furniture is new and I'm having such issues with it being too large but my husband loves it.

TV credenza should be 25% wider than the TV. I'd sell the love/1.5 chair and replace it with a pair of realistic sized chairs. Hang all of your drapes at the height of the recess by the dining room window for a consistent line around the room. 5" above the mantel hang a piece of art that is no wider than the firebox below it. Lower the TV to 5" above the credenza. Consider hanging a piece of art in the hallway to be "framed" by the archway. The dining rug may be too large for the space even if it is 4' wider and longer than the table top. If shouldn't run into walls or furniture on the walls, so try it in the living room - front feet of the sofa on it.

This furniture was just SO expensive there is no way I could sell the chair for enough.

Put the tv in a large armoir- the room is too beautiful for the tv to be hung on the wall - kind of dwarfs it.credenza looks like it is not serving a purpose.

Have your sofa face your fireplace as the focal point.

What is widest window measurement?

What color tone are your cabinets?
Would mirror reflect kitchen? That would seem a good place for canvas art - unless curtains will be lively patterned...etc.

Your dark purple pillows make me post these... somehow I think color would be better on walls.. don't know..

The walls are a neutral off white color. For some reason they show up more yellowy in my pics. Yes that view is from the hallway entrance coming down the hall from the front door. The widest window is 4 feet. Also I didn't quite understand your chandelier/ fireplace advice. The cabinets are a deep espresso. I'm posting a picture. Yes I think a mirror would reflect kitchen.

not advice but saying that chandelier's marble detail, would 'repeat' stone of your fireplace. In other words is it stone and polished?

JCPENNY. I'm still unsure how high to hang curtain rod above windows...

Pix aren't clear but there appears to be a recess around the windows in the dining area that is higher than the top frames of the living room windows. That is the level at which I'd hang all the rods for curtains. More suggestions might come if we could see a clear photo of how the dining windows and the recess really are. Just getting glimpses of them right now.

Ok, our couch is about 90 in. Long. Would I go with a 8x10 rug?

I'd go with a 10 x 12 rug. I like them to stick out from under the two ends of the couch at lease a foot. With a 7.5' couch you need a rug that is at least 114" on the couch side. That's 9.5 feet. You might make do with a 9 x 11 but they're harder to find so I always advise going bigger and a 10 x 12 would probably be the next size up. You don't want it to look like you skimped on such a focal piece of the room.
