The cost of a ceiling like this does not have to be expensive - ours was pretty affordable, though I don't have precise numbers for the installation. In our case, we used a pretty standard flooring material and worked with the contractor to design and refine the ribbon element to make the installation as simple as possible. Since the wood is really just flooring, it installs just like flooring - we just put it on the walls and ceiling instead of the floor. The key for us was having a contractor who was open to building something outside of the "normal" way of doing things. That collaborative relationship was an important part of this project.
