for a 9ft room ceiling the cove ceiling height would be 60" leaving 4 ft above for sleeping area. For an 8ft room ceiling this would not be a suitable design. However, You could still pass with a 3ft sleeping area, but the cove ceiling height should not go below 60" for proper ergonomics and chair height standards.
