Window treatments

I would like to change or update the window treatments. The room is a bit stiff,structured and needs some softness. I was thinking of adding shears over the ugly blinds.
How high should I place the shears? Over and above the transom, or at the same height Where the blinds start? Should they just touch the floor, or have extra length on the ground for that soft flow look? Also, is white to stark? What color sheers would you suggest?

If sheers are not the answer Iam open to suggestions. My only concern is we are prepping to sell so I don't want to invest allot of $ in blinds as these will stay behind

Don't spend a penny. Raise them for showings and people will admire the view and not even notice the window treatments unless they are blocking the view.

i would go with more neutral honey comb blinds that raise from the top and bottom. closer to the beige color of your cushions.

If you are prepping to sell, you can just clean the blinds (or remove them entirely) and keep them raised during showings. Many buyers would rather see the windows than the window treatments.

If you must have something for privacy, try the long Ikea sheers, mounted at the ceiling.

You might consider removing the bookcases, framed art, and twig vase before you get photos for the listing.

Show off the house, not your personal accessories. I'm with apple - remove, delete, simplify, and clean, clean, clean. Not that is looks dirty, but they need to be able to think they could eat off of every surface - including the garage floor. Don't forget to have nice, roomy, nearly empty closets and cabinets. Got to look spacious.

Whatever you put there will more than likely go with the sale of the home. Personally, I'd rather invest the $$$ in the new home than this one, so I'd leave them open and uncovered unless there is something unsightly for a view. If the view is an issue, you'll do better to correct that before putting it on the market.

If you were keeping the home long term, I was going to suggest removing the blinds and get soft sheer or translucent romans instead for a nice, soft, billowy look. However, since you are selling...get rid of them altogether, or just keep as is if you still need to privacy. There is no need for wasting money on blinds...I don't think you'll get the extra value in it from the sale. In fact, if there is a nice view....DEFINITELY open it up! If at all, at least when showing the home.

When showing house or for pictures of house when selling. Keep shades pulled up all the way. Is view nice? People want a lot of light. I would agree with other post. To declutter. Make sure house is very clean. Remove family pictures. And picture on wall and other small items in room. If too much furn in room remove to open it up. It's a good idea to hire a stager, and take their advice for a quick sell on your home. It's not expensive. And so worth it.

Don't worry about window treatments on windows. If selling, invest in other things that can add more value like painting.

The pic you post is very dark. So hard to tell. But looks like you need to remove bookcases, then move those 2 chairs to that area. Chair by window, remove serves no purpose. Remove that bookcase too. You have way too much furn in this room. More pic of rm would help.

I think I see a firepl. So chairs would have to stay but remove bookcase. Add big tall plant in that corner instead
