Help For A Small Nook

We have this small nook in our house. We have a dining room, and a bar counter, and a sitting room and a study.
As you can see we previously had a small table and chairs there but we never eat there. I have no idea what to do with it. Any ideas ? Please.

is the nook off the kitchen? is by the front or back door? not sure but i would say first show us whats around it, and second.. those square blocks look weird nailed to corner.

Maybe you should make it into an inviting warm lounging area! Add some pattern on the wall using a warm yellow like the one in the attached photo, but only do it on one of the walls. Add some beanbag chairs to make a comfortable area to read or talk! Just try to add some fresh new colours. And on the wall, even to a little d.i.y. Project and make a small photo collage! Hope this helps!

you could make this space into a small library and reading area

A built in storage window bench, with a cushion and lots of pillows, would look great there.

Can we see more of the room?

Definitely a reading nook -- it would look great next to those great windows. If you can fit a wingback chair or two, and a small table (with book storage) could be lovely!

Thank you everyone. Yes it's just off the kitchen. But when we've got a "sitting room" just 5 feet away why do I need a reading area. I realize this has turned into a first world problem, of "my house is too big I don't know what to do with all the space" . I thought of a bar, but I think that sends the wrong message to the kids. I'm beginning to think reading nook, window seats. Can you buy window seats or are they always custom built. Thank you again.

Typically custom, for fit. If it is just off the kitchen, you might also consider things like a coffee station, or a tiered herb garden, etc. to compliment your work.[houzz=

If you're thinking kid-friendly, what about a chalkboard wall? I've been the full wall done or a "frame" (of molding) built onto the wall surrounding a rectangle within the space. Fun for the kids or to post menus, shopping lists, ect for the adults of the house !

if you do a built in, you can also add back a table later for a home work area or something, who knows.... but i would do the bench so it could be used with a table later.

A window seat would need to be custom-built for your space. The window seat can be very versatile... a reading nook, extra seating for entertaining, a quiet place to have a cup of coffee with the paper or laptop. Like flair said, you can always add a table if you find you need it, as in the picture anne dee posted. The window seat I posted even has drawers underneath. Great storage bonus!

why don't you make it the kids little space. Some ideas: Yogibo bean bags, a small library. Piant in a fun color, get a rug in and some bean bags. I gave some to my niece and nephew and they LOVE THEM https://www.yogibo.com/yogimidi/

Do you need storage for anything? Could you add shelves for cookbooks or other items in your kitchen? Do you need a pantry?

Sorry. I mislead you. The kids are 21 and 12.
