Our finished Galley Kitchen

We bought this house and the interior was straight out of the 70's. We gutted the house and started from scratch. Here is the end result of the finished galley kitchen. I've included a before and 3 after shots.

Lovely remodel but curious about dual bowl sink. Since you have a dishwasher, why would you need that? I have a single bowl & find it so very handy & great to work in.

@ingrid 1946 I have a dishwasher too and thought we just needed one sink . But now we regret we didn't install two of them for we love to cook.

The paint we used is Sherwin Williams Pro Mar 200, 6002 Essential Grey.

    The counter-top is Arabescato Granite

The sink could have been any one of a thousand choices but this seemed to fit the bill for what we needed. Yes we still wash dishes from time to time.

Of course the modern touch we are all going to love. My only complaint would be, too much gray. I would love to see some touches of red or orange or even yellow, just to keep the drab out of the picture.

Edit: It is stunning though. I need to clarify my comment.

what is the kitchen floor tile, where did you get it and now that you are living in the home and using the kitchen...is there anything you would change about the tile? I'm trying to decide whether to go with a tile or luxury vinyl plank in my own galley kitchen. Many thanks!
Jim & Karoline Sheldon thanked jlr2015
The tile on the floor is Grigio Scuuro/Dark Grey Ceramic tile. We love this tile, no problems and easy to clean. I should preface that with there are only my wife and I and 2 cats so its not as if it gets real dirty to begin with, but so far any cleaning has been easy.

Also to Lynnie, color will make it's way to all of the rooms in the house. Bright colors, once we settle on the art and have it on the walls I will post photos.

Nice! Love the window. Is the fridge to the right of the sink? If so, nice work area. Is that the new vinyl floating floor?
Jim & Karoline Sheldon thanked onthecoast1

The fridge is across from the sink, almost kitty corner. The floor is Tile

I like it. Gives me some more ideas. Wish I had room for the small L. This is the same project I am working on. I only have 12 foot of width to work with but can extend my length along outside wall. Kitchen HELP has before photos of the small gally we have. Will post "during and after" photos there. Enjoy your new space!

Best of luck Lee! Small spaces really present a challenge.

A bit more modern than my own personal taste, but it is not my kitchen! What a transformation! Looks fantastic!

Thanks for the luck wishes! I've been planning this for decades so plans have changed often. Hampered by a stairwell on one end (with a full wall of glass beyond that) and a sliding glass door to the deck from the dining room. Changing out all cabinets and extending counter full length of available space between stairwell and sliding door. A single deep sink and a cooktop will be on that side. Other side will have frig on one end and wall oven & micro on the other with nothing but counter between the two! Opening the wall above that counter to view the family room and have a breakfast bar.

For being visually open on both ends the actual work area was small, dark and tight (4' walkway). The new cupboards will be Hickory (knotholes and all) with a laminated counter that looks like stone or marble. We're still tearing out so everything is a mess. Glad we have a big TV in the basement since the family room is getting filled with boxes! Old cabinets will go to garage! I'll attach a photo of my dinky kitchen and a sample of the new cabinets.

What is the brand of your stove exhaust? Does it vent outside?
Jim & Karoline Sheldon thanked Jeff & Lee McCubbin

    last modified: 11 years ago
The fan is a Zephyr which can be vented to the outside or ventless, we can't vent it to the outside because of the roofline. Thus we us the ventless feature (that is an additional kit they offer). It actually works pretty damn good. I see by your pictures that you have the same kind of situation that we had. Good Luck on the battle ahead, look forward to seeing the finished product.
Fantastic! We can vent straight out the sidewall. The old stove (on other wall) does vent up through the original roof but we have added greater pitch so it now vent to the attic but filter caught more than actually exhausted. My husband will be thrilled. Thank You!
