This is my first time using Huozz for help. I love this app and I use it for ideas often! However, I'm not good at explaining my problem and my room isn't as nice as the usual photos on here. This room needs more work than just flooring!

Please bear with me! I have an open living room with a yellow pine wood front entrance and Berber style carpet. We're replacing this gray carpet. I picked out a nice biege carpet, but I also want to add more yellow pine wood. Looking at the photo of the Christmas tree, the wood floor would come out three feet from the back wall to the right (measuring just past the far bedroom door) and stretch down the "hallway" to the wood floor in our kitchen. This wood create an inlay of carpet in the middle of our living space.

My husband is worried that this is too unique and will harm the value of our home. I like carpet in the low traffic area and don't want to hardwood everything. The purple rug pic is an almost identical living room with hardwood throughout (same builder). The last pic is my photoshop of the new hardwood and carpet.

Please help! Is inlay carpet a bad idea?!
