Kitchen Cabinets from Oak to Black

We updated the look of our 17' x 13' kitchen for less than $3,500. We sanded, primed and painted the cabinet bases, then installed 25 new door fronts, 25 new cabinet doors, 7 glass inserts and hardware. We didn't want to replace the granite; the cabinets are oak and a good layout, but the oak was yellowed and a bit dated. The door fronts and cabinet doors were ordered from www.diykitchenrefacing.com (Warm & Happy, Dulce Maple).

NICE!! I love the glass doors. You're luck to have windows along the wall like that in the kitchen!

Thanks pcride - The 3 windows have wi-fi motorized Hunter Douglas Silhouette blinds. Love them because they can be completely open, completely closed or sheer. They can be scheduled to be automatically open/closed at any time of day or based on sunrise/sunset - and there are no unslightly cords.

It looks great! I'm a big fan of black and it works perfectly with the floor and counters.

Hi, wow....I'm Not a big lover of dark cabinets, but this looks great. Not only do you have the light/windows for it, but the addition of the glass doors really makes it stand out. I'm in awe, I think it looks fabulous, job well done. It makes all the other surfaces/materials in the kitchen come alive. Now you notice the beautiful backsplash, floor and counter. I can't say enough. :) Good luck and enjoy it! :)

The refacing door/front provider offers maple-painted-black and various stained wood colors. They offer a laminate to cover the cabinet bases to match the fronts, but we wanted to avoid laminate. We decided to paint the cabinets instead of using laminate, which was only possible with black. If we replaced the cabinets entirely, we would have more options for the color. We could potentially replace the upper cabinets someday. I'd love to have the new style with doors that open vertically.
