I love the hardwood floor color. How did you attain this color with red oak floors? Also is the finish satin?

Hi atm1014! This is Min-Wax Ebony stain on red oak site finish hardwood. We lightly dampened the wood prior to stain to open the pores of the wood, to allow it to accept a darker hue of Ebony stain. Otherwise, the red oak tends to acquire a greyish black finish. Satin finish is correct. Hope this helps.

How many coats of ebony stain did you use? After you applied the water, did you need to wait before you applied the stain? Looks great!

I am also very curious about wetting the floors first. Do you just get them slightly damp and how long do you wait to apply the stain??

Leave the method up to your professional flooring crew. Otherwise, if you're doing it yourself....not sure what to recommend. You're on your own. I believe my crew dampened them and let them sit overnight before applying the stain the next day, or I could be mistaken and they dampened them and applied the stain several hours later. Run a sample or two first. Good luck!
