There are lots of options in tile that looks like wood. Also, laminate "wood" floors get better all the time. But, you really need to do some research on products suited for a basement environment. Don't buy anything not rated for below ground use. Keep in mind also that a basement floor may not be level, which is why carpet is often used. The floor may need to be leveled with additional concrete.

We used dry-core on our concrete floor and then luxury vinyl plank it is great stands up to kids in and out of pool and dogs in and out of dog run and makes the floor feel a little warmer.

One possibility is stained concrete floors. Do a search and you will see how lovely it can turn out.

In flash flood situations my basement has occasionally has had water seep into it - about once every 5 years. The only flooring that can withstand this is tile and we have begun removing carpet and replacing with tile. The salvageable carpet is being bonded for area rugs.

Vinyl and laminate may survive water / moisture, but the vinyl adhesive on the planks may fail and they need to be dried off and reapplied. Laminate will also need to be dried and reapplied if water seeps in.Tile requires nothing more than a quick wipe up with a mop or shop vac - drying out the basement quick and preventing mold. The same with the stained concrete.

The downside is it is cold. So, lots of area rugs that can be rolled up when the flood warnings are out.
