Which rug for this room?

This is our living room, where we want to purchase a new rug. With the couch in brown/beige and the wall color grey (main color is repose grey and accent wall is dovetail) i can't seem to find the right rug. the current one is 8x10 and we probably will need a larger one. Any suggestions?
The plant will be replaced for a nice acrea palm. Also the lamp will be replaced for a new one. I found this one, see picture, but not done with my research yet, it was my first attempt to find one. Thoughts?

the console table is too low, add some drapery panels and art work to find some inspiration, with nothing on the walls it will be hard to find something to bounce off of.

I'd pick an accent color and look for something that brings in touches or patterns of that color, which then can show up in some throw pillows and other bits around the room...

(Console table seems ok to me, although I'd lower the TV 6 inches.)

Love the new floor light you have picked out. Where did you find it?

I'd prefer some curves - an arc lamp behind the sofa could hover over the coffee table and look quite nice.

So far you're on the right path, but everything looks very square and bland. Try to add an accent color through accessories, artwork, pillows, etc.

Ok, so you all saying i need to choose an accent color first, right? Which accent colors would go with the brown/beige couch and the grey wall color? Orange? Any other colors? We just moved to this house and didn't get far yet. we are thinking about getting solar shades and maybe if it is still needed to get some drapery panels.
