The furniture is fine for modern - the room is just a little flat. To create dimension more layers of texture and subtle contrast which could include colour. Colour doesn't have to be bold- mid tones from the throw cushions painted on the wall behind the sofa would help give depth.
Also, bring the side chairs in closer to the sofa, at right angles, to make the space more intimate - plus make TV viewing easier. Modern, embraces technology, so a media wall where the current TV is - adding music components, bookshelves and art, always goes a long way when trying to bring personality to a space, plus adds psychic warmth too.

Beautiful view! Solar roller shades are a great way to keep your view and cut out the suns rays! they are also very modern in appearance. I love the wall color btw!
