I have just started my balcony garden and so far I have 2 varieties of tomatoes in 2 14-18 inch pots (plants are only 6 in high), Sweet basil (8 inch pot)and just bought a bell pepper plant to go in another 18 inch pot and a poppy plant to go into a 14 inch pot. I don't think my lease says anything about the number of plants as long as it doesn't look trashy, but so far everything is set out on the ledge until it gets a little larger. My question is should I get rid of something or let them grow on their own and move them into the 5-10 gallon containers (tomatoes) when they get larger?
