Hi! With zone 5 it may be too early for caterpillars yet. I may suggest just leaving your containers inside for a week. If you get a frost, you won't be there to drag your things in. That happened to me earlier this year!

Be careful with the nasturtiums. they don't like being transplanted. :)

As for the Nasturtiums, hw do u start them? I direct seeded them last year not knowing they need darkness to germinate. so I started them indoors this year. I was planning to put it into the containers eventually, without disturbing the root balls as much as I can. Would that work?

I direct seed. You just put them down an inch and it covers all their darkness needs! I think your plan will work. If not, they grow fast enough to direct seed later. Last year I moved some around and they sat still a bit, but recovered. :)
