Cynoglossum amabile is the annual Forget Me Nots.

Myosotis sylvatica is the biennial or short lived perennial but reseeds that you'll have it in your garden forever.

There are about 50 species in the Myosotis genus ;)

I winter sowed some variety of Chinese forget-me-nots last year. They bloomed like crazy in late spring and then more lightly in the fall. It was my first experience with them, so I'm hoping that if they do come back in the spring I recognize them and don't pull them out thinking they are weeds. (This is something I've been known to do).

I have myosotis palustris 'Semperflorens'. That's the perennial f-m-n. Mine bloom from mid spring thru Sept. in flushes. I trim the flower stems back when they're done so they bloom again. This will be their 5th yr. Last year they really started to spread. I've read other posts where the annuals reseed very easily on their own. Some perennial plants do take a year before they bloom. I wouldn't give up on them yet. I don't know about the annual ones, but the perennial ones don't like to dry out. Mine get full morning sun, but I'm in the northern part of the country, so by you they may do well with just a few hours of morning sun. I also mulch mine so they don't dry out fast.

Would you swap some Myosotis seeds? I am looking for the perennial type. Now I have the compact ones in 3 colours (just bought the seeds from the store).

greenhrs: The ones I have are Myosotis Sylvatica, and if they ever bloom, I would be happy to give you some seeds. They aren't looking very good right now, but they aren't dead, either, which is to their credit - that cold snap didn't do them any good. I think they'll look a bit better after a bit of trimming, but I've been putting that off until I can be sure we aren't going to have another bout of freezing weather. That would be weird for Central California, but it's been a weird year. I'll clip your post so that I won't forget to let you know if they bloom.
