What branches to use for trellis?

I need to build 2 trellises for climbing vines - one for a Mothers' Day gift which will be 5 feet high and 4 feet wide. Juat a grid style with a scalloped top. The other will go up the sides and over the top of front (double) doors. Maybe like two ladders on the sides with a curved top to connect. It needs to be 7 1/2 feet high and the top connector would be about 6 1/2 feet.

I have woods behind my house but without going very deep into them the only thing I can find to use are maples. I also have grape vine to use as decorations on them, i.e. hearts, circles.

I also have access to pine but I wouldn't think that would be good to use and the sap would be a mess.

I've found lots of designs but very little information on what types of branches to use (I don't think I can get willow or birch).

Thanks for any help you can give me.
