Not sure Karen, but it sure sounds like a cute, worthwhile idea. Perhaps a Scotchguard spray would extend the life of them some. It supposedly seals fabrics from stains, so maybe it would block out the UV rays of the sun as well. Might be worth reading the label or e-mailing the company and asking (3m makes it, I think)
Anyway, just my 2 cents worth. I like your idea a lot, I think it is very creative.

jannyfanny, what a great idea. my garden has 3 goldfish ponds and the covered place up against the fence where i sit will soon be backed with a transparent shower curtain i have that is covered in goldfish. i have changed my bathroom decor and have been wondering what to do with it next. it's going to look great! thanks, min

I read where Krylon is making a uv protectant spray for fabric--I've checked locally but no one carried it--maybe you can check into it
