october, you need to attach a picture of this planter. We can't make our usual brilliant suggestions without having an idea of what you're talking about. Your verbal description isn't bringing up a picture in my mind....not ken's either, I guess.

Wow! thanks frank and jim! Those are some great ideas. The ones I have are the terra cotta look plastic shallow bowls. I don't think there is anything to suspend the bowls, they were just sitting on the dirt in the bowl beneath.

I love the hosta fern combo. And those clay pot towers of yours look fantastic. I like the one with a little of everything - especially the trailing lobelia.

The way my stacked pots are setup is putting other pots that are also full of soil inside to support the weight above. Otherwise the top pots would sink and not stay level.

Nice demo, Frank, thank you. I like that "Porch Stack" but the "Hosta Stack" is also done quite well.

Oh! Thank you so much for the info. Now to find the right size pots. They need to be just below the surface. Should be easy with my shallow bowls.
