For your area bloom time should be the second half of March for the common yellow type, a month or so later for some of the named varieties and the common white narcissus.

Full sun is most helpful but a little bit of a balanced fertilizer can help. Do not cut the foliage after bloom, leave it to die back.

You might ask this question in the bulb forum since daffodils are bulbs and not annuals. I'm curious. What's a wild daffodil?

There are many "wild" daffodils that grow in the south. Basically, they are cultivated daffodils that escaped gardens and naturalized over a period of many years. They grow in pastures, ditches, in sweeps under trees...anywhere their foliage can remain undisturbed by mowers.

In our area, most of the wild forms are small blooms and extremely fragrant. Bloom time will depend, first, on the variety, and second, (and to a lesser degree), on the weather. I have known Narcissus, Campernelle, to bloom the first week of February here in a mild winter. (This hasn't been one of those.) And, come to think of it, most of the wild ones in our area tend to bloom earlier than the majority of cultivated ones.

If you want to help your bulbs do their very best, give them some bulb food right after they begin to emerge from the ground in spring to feed their roots and help them build better foliage. Then, fertilize them with bulb food again next fall, around late September to Mid October. Make sure they get plenty of moisture during their growing season, and other than letting their foliage stand till it dies back, that's all there is to it.

If you want more of them, wait until the foliage turns brown, dig them up every two or three years, break off the offsets (baby bulbs that will develop around the base of the mother bulb), and immediately replant them all at a depth of three times the height of the bulbs in good soil in full sun. (Full sun in winter. Shade is okay in summer when they are dormant.) The wildlings tend to make offsets very quickly when they are happy, so it's easy to get lots more in just a few years.
