securing antique statue

Does anyone know a way to install safely a statue on a marble pedestal in a garden? I inherited an amazing 4 ft. black marble pedestal with a beautiful statue atop it. The entire height of the two pieces is six ft. The statue is bronze-classical subject of woman and child-she is holding a bunch of grapes out and the child is running and reaching. Since it is something I remember from my grandparents' front hall, I don't want to risk damage to it, but I have always pictured it in a garden, not inside. I haven't moved it out because I am afraid of having the statue fall and break-flowing pieces of drapery and outspread arms. Has anyone else ever installed a piece outside? I am not sure if there is a way to make it really secure and any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cynthia
