I really like the assorted tiles you have used. It is beautiful. I would love to have a patio floor like that, but my husband is a little too conservative.
Some friends of ours in Italy did something similar in one of the bathrooms. They also used small (about 3") river stones in the center and then covered the floor with a high gloss protective lacquer of some sort.
