I also have a gerbera daisy making flower buds and have been thinking that now is the time to start fertilizing. I don't usually overwinter them but this one had such huge beautiful blooms that I had to try to save it. Mine is growing in the cool basement under lights.

the hardest thing about spring fever.. is trying not to kill the plants ....

in your z4.. your last frost date should be around the same as mine.. in z5 .. june 1st ...

what are you going to do with it ... if you feed it too generously and it start growing like a weed????

and a lot of plants do not like wet roots in a cold room ...

then there is the strength of the sunlight thru windows ....

if you just have to do something.. then use 1/4 strength water soluble fert.. when you water it .... and dont keep watering it ... and sogify the roots ... [thats a new word] ...

i have found.. over the years.. the hard part isnt the over-wintering... its that period in spring.. when i have the fever.. that usually kills them ....
