I'm not sure what you mean by wrapping it 'around the first'... how do you wrap one cylinder around another one? You can plant them close together, to the point where trunks may fuse if you wrap both of them together as a unit for months - real raffia (from a craft store) is good - I'm using a little piece of that lacy rubbery carpet underlay to wrap and fuse my scheffleras - is that what you mean?

Or do you mean growing the arial roots down onto and through the branches of the other tree? Is this the tree you posted about earlier? What ever happened with your juniper seedlings?

With just two trunks, it would be difficult to avoid a certain sense of uniformity if you're twisting/wrapping the trunks together (if that is what you mean). It can be done successfully with multiple trunks growing parallel to one another, which are tightly wrapped together so they fuse into one large trunk. To do so successfully, you need quite a bit of patience and really can't take a peak to see how things are progressing too early. If they aren't fused properly when you do, you may undo all the progress that had occured until that point. That's my only advice.

My juniper seedlings have not sprouted yet. I think that it'll be a long time till they do. And, flash14756, if you're reffering to the ficus microcarpa tree, then yes. And it probably looks a lot better now than it did in that picture! I've done a lot of wiring and pinching. There's a lot more foliage on it now!
