frost is not the issue for germination ...

soil temps are ....

last night down here in adrian mi .... we hard a hard frost ... that would have little impact on a seed in mother earth ...

but had the seed sprouted already ... the plant would be a goner ...

so get your last predicted frost date .. for me.. around 5/25 .. and subtract how many days to germination ... and then hope the soil is warm enough for such ...

i am going to give my seed another week or two.. before i roll the dice ...

or if you have a bunch.. plant some.. save some for later ...

This is a plant from Africa. I started mine indoors and they took off very fast. They love heat. They need heat. Mine grew like crazy but never produced flowers, much less peapods. They were in full sun. I'm in zone 5 too. I wonder if our summers are long enough to get flowers and pods from this plant.

I had spring fever too. So, I planted them in cell packs, and they shot up out of the soil in less than five days. Then I set them in the ground (last frost, but cool soil), where they have sat and done NOTHING for the last three weeks. I saved some seed, and I may have to start over. Night lows are to be well above 55 for the next week. If they don't start growing, I'll be sowing again.

BYTW, Select Seed lists these seeds as seed to bloom in fourteen weeks.
