Plant the whole seed shell and all.I Planted a bunch this year and all are growing well. Not stupid at all I didn't know either until I asked my Sis how she plants her's.

I will mention, however, that birds really like the sprouts. My daughter and I direct sowed some not too long ago and even though every single seed came up, only one will (fingers crossed) make it to bloom...we should have put netting over them or something until they got bigger.

Good point Amanada. I winter sow mine. That way I can leave them in the container until the sprouts get a big bigger. Then transplant in the garden. I seem to have more luck this way than direct sowing.
