The various garden Amaranthus including v. Molton Fire get much more ornamental as they reach maturity. Here in upstate N.Y. they need to be watched for mainly flea beatles early on.These plants should be nourished and given the space they need to make their large and fine display. Sometimes I cut later branches off the sides as they will probably grt frosted and by so doing I provide more water and nutriant for the main flowering. Please look for and try different kinds. Lee

Amaranthus 'Early Splendor' (which from googling looks similar to 'Molten Fire') gave an amazing display in my London garden last summer. Plants grew to around 4 foot tall. Because the colour comes from bracts, rather than the actual flowers, it lasts for months.
