I haven't grown it in years....but it was BIG....maybe not 5 feet....but for sure 4 feet tall.
The seed pods are so prickley that I can't imagine anything doing more than putting their mouth on one and gagging and spitting.
Before I knew, I held a green seed pod and opened it with my bare fingers...my hand was numb for several hours.

My white datura was planted in a bed. It got huge, maybe 4 1/2 foot by 4 foot. Small plants are coming up everywhere this spring. I also planted a double purple, I beleive devils trumpet, in a pot and it was much smaller, but I don't know how big the doubles can get. The white one has become almost invasive.

There are different varieties/species of Datura, but commonly grown ornamental ones can reach 4-5 feet in a season, given full sun and fertile soil.

Animals in my experience (and from what other gardeners have said) typically avoid Datura. I have dogs that have never shown any interest in Datura or Brugmansia. I suspect it smells and/or tastes nasty.

In my yard, datura only gets about 3' or so tall, but it does get bushy. I've seen datura in other yards, and they seem a bit taller, maybe 4'.

My Datura inoxia (white) grew to about 4' tall with about a 4' spread. The growing area was pretty much on-top of a gravel road, hot and extremely well drained. I was counting about 20 blooms a day come mid-summer...earwigs were gettin'em in the beginning! Arhhhhh!!!

Now the plant I had in a prepared garden area failed in comparison..sparsely branched it grew straight up to about 2' and had very few flowers...

My very first, a volunteer, Datura discolor, was about 4' in the garden. The following year, it reseeded, and it was about the same. I had grown a few different varieties in containers, and they never got taller than 2'.
