Can you grow these from seeds? I haven't seen them in the packets. Do you buy the plants and then save seeds that way? Curious.

Seeds are available, but are expensive. Surface sow at 75 degrees. Plants are also available, again relatively expensive. Have never tried to save seeds. Al

As for the OP's desire for the long stemmed varieties; that might have been just a lucky find in a potted plant purchase. Doubtful if the inexpensive masses of them in garden centers and the big boxes would be the long stemmed cultivars. You probably should save the seeds from yours and see what you get. The stems in the usual plants can be a good length, but nothing like those in your pictures.

U Cal-Davis did a lot of the breeding of gerberas for home gardens, but, breeding of the plants in Florida and Europe focused on developing the long-stemmed cultivars for greenhouse cut flower production.

Primgal36 ;- As Al state Gerbera can be grown from seed. I have tried it with mine that were in the photos and I must be doing something wrong. I can never get any saved seed to germinate. Go figure!

Duluthinbloomz4 ;- I brought all of my plants at different home improvement stores many years ago. Lately, I can't seem to find any of them with long stems. I love them as cutting flowers and bringing into the house for a vase. They are so lovely with their wonderful bright colors and make the house feel more homey.

Hazzard Wholesale Seed has many Gerbera seed varieties, I am sure some are what you are looking for. They sell to anyone, just larger quantities and a better selection. Al
